Running a spring raffle

The spring term is the shortest of the year and it has a half term sitting in the middle of it, so spring raffles live or die on how early the tickets reach the people selling them. Our 16 spring designs are built for that: pick one, personalise it online, and get books in hands while there are still weeks of selling left.

Events that suit a spring draw

Spring fairs and plant sales are the natural fit, but the same tickets work just as well for a Mother's Day event, a quiz night, a charity coffee morning or a PTA disco. Anywhere a crowd gathers for an hour or two is somewhere a book of raffle tickets can be sold.

If your event is outdoors, spring weather makes a backup plan worth having. Selling tickets in the weeks beforehand rather than only on the day means a washout costs you attendance, not your fundraising total.

Prizes that work in spring

Garden centre vouchers, hanging baskets and seed or bulb bundles all land well at this time of year, and local nurseries are often willing to donate. Afternoon tea for two, a family day out, or a hamper built from donations are reliable headline prizes.

A strong first prize sells tickets, but a handful of smaller prizes matters too — people are far more willing to buy a book when they can see several chances to win rather than one.

How long to allow

Standard delivery is free and arrives within 5 working days of your order being confirmed, and express is 3 working days if you need it sooner. Work back from your draw date, then add the selling time on top: two to three weeks of selling is far more productive than a frantic final weekend.

Watch where half term falls. A fortnight of selling split by a school holiday is really two short bursts, so it pays to order before the break rather than after it.
