Raffles for sports clubs

Club raffles are different from one-off event raffles. You are not selling to a crowd that has turned up once — you are selling to the same members, parents and supporters across a whole season of fixtures, which means the design goes on your tickets for months. Our 22 sporting designs cover football, cricket, golf, darts and general club use.

Selling across a season, not a day

The most effective club raffles run on match days: a book behind the bar, a book with the club secretary, and a book with whoever is on the gate. Sold steadily across ten or twelve fixtures, a raffle raises far more than a single push at a presentation night.

Because a book holds five tickets, handing books out to committee members and players is easy to track. Each person is responsible for whole books rather than loose tickets, which makes reconciling the money straightforward.

What clubs raise money for

Kit and equipment, pitch or green maintenance, tour and tournament costs, junior section subsidies, minibus funds and clubhouse repairs are the usual targets. Naming the specific thing on the ticket makes a real difference — people give more readily to a new set of junior kit than to general funds.

Annual draws work well for clubs with a defined season. Print once, sell throughout, and draw at the end-of-season dinner or presentation evening.

Prizes clubs can get for free

Sporting clubs have an advantage here: signed shirts, match tickets, club merchandise, a round of golf, a coaching session or a sponsor's donation are all usually available without spending anything. Local businesses that already sponsor the club are the obvious first ask.

If you are selling tickets beyond your own membership to the general public, check our guide to UK raffle regulations before printing, because the rules differ from a members-only draw and certain details must appear on the ticket.
